Games

Games exhibition (free entrance)
at Kildevæld Kulturcenter

Games exhibition at Kildevæld Kulturcenter - come and play alternative video games and talk to their creators! There will be art games, multiplayer games, alternative controllers and many inspiring creations and rarities, fun for all ages!

Alternative Controller Games

Alternative controller (altctrl) games and installations are played using unconventional input methods, and are usually hard to find anywhere other than exhibitions like this one—our event is a unique opportunity to make them more accessible. As there is little commercial purpose to show these games, they tend to disappear from the scene, so we also have the chance to show older games here. These games are often hardware dependent, or require installation by the developer themselves, which is a great opportunity for guests to meet them directly and get some insights about innovation and thinking outside the box.

Music Games

As fans of music and games (that’s why we named our festival Games & Jazz), we’re interested in the possibility of music games. Gamification of music can be simple and fun as demonstrated in the classic rhythm games such as Dance Dance Revolution and one can find a similar type of music games at arcades and such. However, there are also other kinds of approaches to the idea of music games that are not easily replicated and we want to give them a spotlight. Additionally, as we’re expecting musicians as our visitors and collaborators, we think this is a perfect place to make the game world and music world collide.

Multiplayer Games

We like having multiplayer games at game showcases because multiplayer games invite the players to share the experiences and connect them through play. Games/the act of playing is a great way to connect people as it facilitates the social interactions in a whimsical manner that can be hard to achieve through other modes of communication. Through providing the space for the people to share games and experiences, we are hoping that some of the visitors may make good connections and fun shared experiences and memories together.

Games from Denmark

Since we're in Copenhagen, Denmark, we want to share the richness of the Danish game scene! The Danish indie game scene is genuinely really cool :~)

Shower Room Games

We had the idea, alongside Kildevæld Kulturcenter, to create an alternative space for the games showcase in the lockers and showers inside the venue. The water can be disabled, and the games can be shown safely there, creating a space that’s cosy, private, and a little bit risque.
The unusual location seems like a good fit to show games with more mature topics, rarely addressed, such as sexuality, intimacy, mental health, abuse, or perspectives from marginalized people, thus creating a memorable experience while attracting attention towards them, that can generate meaningful discussions. We will implement content warnings to ensure safety, and that no boundaries are overstepped.

Berlin is where Mr Woofmantic made his first stage appearance with visuals. And we made some friends in Berlin. So we thought we want to bring nice games made in Beriln :-)

Jake Sherman

Friday

Long ago, Jake Sherman was making his way as a jazz organist. While taking a walk around the pond, the perfect hook for a pop song formed in his mind. He then spent months in his room learning the art of production, and emerged from his jazz chrysalis. With a combination of pop sensibilities, intricate harmonies, and direct yet poignant lyrics, Jake’s sound continues to evolve into a world uniquely his own. As a sideman, Jake has made significant contributions as the writer and pianist on Rosalía’s GRAMMY-winning Hentai and as the organist on Meshell Ndegeocello’s album No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin and Chance the Rapper’s No Problem. He has collaborated with Nick Hakim, Bilal, Andrew Bird, and Blood Orange and recently has been performing with and opening for Meshell Ndegeocello as part of the duo Jake and Abe. 🎹🎤

Thom Gill

Thom Gill (he/him) is a freelance music person based in Toronto. Over the last 15 years, Thom has toured internationally with KNOWER, Sam Amidon, Sam Wilkes, Martha Wainwright, Joseph Shabason, La Force, Fievel is Glauque, Jeremy Dutcher, his own band Bernice, and many more. He appears on recent records by Chaka Khan, The Mountain Goats, Beverly Glenn Copeland, Sam Wilkes, The Weather Station, and Fievel is Glauque. He has worked in theatre and dance, writing many scores for works by Christopher House on the company at Toronto Dance Theatre. He performed in Public Recordings’ play Other Jesus at Festival TransAmèriques, and most recently in Theatre Replacement’s The End of Greatness at Vancouver’s Historic Cultch. He has scored for film and television including feature length works Mississippi River Styx (with Joseph Shabason) and Caroline Monnet’s Bootlegger (with Tanya Tagaq and Jean Martin), and the short Caring Cabin featuring Beverly Glenn Copeland, which premiered on Criterion. He also appears on scores by Owen Pallett for films by Kristoffer Borgli, Anton Corbijn and Jerrod Carmichael. This summer, Thom travelled to Bologna for AngelicA Festival with Ryan Driver’s The Titillators, then on to South America and Japan with KNOWER, and Calgary Folk Fest with Sam Amidon and... a lot more! 🎸

Mr Woofmantic - Piano Horațiu Romantic - Piano Nomi - Keys Mr Woofmantic plays original piano-vocal compositions which are theatrical and interactive, with a humorous touch. The concert features a live projection from the videogames world where Mr Woofmantic lives, and the live human band that spreads their music to our human world. Mr Woofmantic plays through Horațiu Roman as his human avatar, and in this concert, he will be joined by Nomi the human on keys.

skrotkontroll X skitfula spel

Kjell is a games educator and producer of experimental game culture, based in Gothenburg, Sweden. This workshop combines the concept of making the ugliest game you can muster (skitfula spel) and building controllers out of trash (Skrotkontroll). For two hours we'll build big, hideous things out of cardboard and other pieces of trash. And then we play. 🤡🥳

Mr Woofmantic

A piano-playing, song-writing, singing dog

The songs of Mr Woofmantic are acoustic piano-vocal compositions inspired by his life as a dog. He is a self-taught musician and his influences range from KK Slider to Randy Newman, from Rowlf the Dog to Tom Waits and other dog and human musicians. The duo with Simone de Bovwarf has played together since 2025 in small concerts around Copenhagen and online livestreams. The Mr Woofmantic project started in March 2024 as a cross-media collaboration between Horatiu Roman and Nomi. Its first appearance occurred within the video games project, Dog Castle, a part of Zium Exposition, a collaborative international online collaboration of artists in different media. Mr Woofmantic played a solo concert there, and the game can be played for free at theziumsociety.itch.io/the-zium-exposition while the concert has been released as a live album on Mr Woofmantic’s Bandcamp at mrwoofmantic.bandcamp.com In 2025, the first European tour of Mr Woofmantic in the human world happened as the Awoorld Tour traveling from Berlin, with a performance opening A MAZE. / Berlin, an arthouse video games festival, to Copenhagen with a performance at Metronomen. About us & Contact

The co-producers of Mr Woofmantic are Horatiu Roman, based in Copenhagen, on the musical performance and programming side, and Til Nomi, based in Berlin, on the graphics side.

Horațiu Roman (@horatiuromantic) is a musician and game developer from Cluj-Napoca, Romania, based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is a multi-instrumentalist, and plays jazz, singer-songwriter folk and experimental music. He writes original music and has released several albums since 2022 on Bandcamp, YouTube and streaming platforms. His songwriting tells stories that blend the mundane and the poetic, with humor, intelligence, and a healthy dose of ignorance. He has been part of the local game development scene since ~2012, and now runs Complicated Nonsense, a small game and interactive media studio. He is part of music and games communities, organizes events and works to get people together and bring them joy and thoughtfulness. Nomi or Til Nomi (thenomi.com, instagram, bsky) is an artist based in Berlin, founded and runs an international community for art/experimental games called Gæmz. Growing up in a musical environment and having studied media arts, Nomi has many feelings towards music, films, and media things and spends a lot of time doing research on music in their free time. Nomi creates visual art (illustrations and videos in 2D and 3D) for games, game adjacent work, events, music, books, etc. and sometimes thinks about becoming a comedy gold while being too irrelevant and too inexperienced for that.
